zander
Growing up in Yorkshire, Zander started playing guitar at 12 following a childhood musical diet of Thin Lizzy, Free & 80s synth pop heard around the house growing up. Fatefully encountering a music teacher who championed him to pursue music - ultimately covering the cost of it on his behalf - he had aspirations of making it as a session guitar player. Moving to London in 2023 to pursue that dream, he soon found himself spending time with fellow LIPA alumni Bob Mackenzie, and being introduced to a network of producers and songwriters. Before long Zander was in sessions with the likes of Ethan P Flynn (FKA Twigs, Nia Archives), Ed Nash (Bombay bicycle Club), Joe Rodgers (The 1975), Jack Cochrane (The Snuts), Toby Daintree (Artemas), Hugo M.Hardy (Nieve Ella) in London and at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
Zander’s goal is to write music that can stand the test of time, he finds inspiration in all genres, and has a talent for personal storytelling that doesn’t feel like emotional unloading, explaining “the definition of great songwriting for me is when anyone can connect with a song irrespective of what the story meant to the artist”.
Having toured with Honeymoan & Sody, sold out his debut headline show at The Kazimier Stockroom in Liverpool and played to a packed out room at the DORK X Chess Club showcase at the 2025 edition of The Great Escape, this year will see Zander go from strength to strength, with a debut EP incoming on iconic indie tastemakers Chess Club Records - the label responsible for releasing debut material from Mumford & Sons, Wolf Alice, MØ, Sundara Karma, Hard Life (fka Easy Life), Jungle and in recent years the careers of Alfie Templeman, Coach Party, Pixey & more.
