Lucy Gaffney

Exchanging Northern Ireland for a life by the Mersey, Gaffney has previously hit the road with peers from Liverpool’s contemporary ‘Hall of Fame’, including The Coral, Bill Ryder-Jones and She Drew The Gun, carefully ascending ever closer to the peak of her powers as a live performer and songwriter.

Lucy released her much anticipated debut single "Can't Escape" on Fri 6 April 2020 on Modern Sky/Run On Records.

A branch of the family tree that links Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain to Jenny Lewis’ She’s Not Me, Gaffney took to the acoustic guitar at the low point of romance to add her own slice of barbed beauty to the songbook of the broken hearted. Initially inspired by Radiohead’s In Rainbows, a flood of emotion and guillotine-sharp lyrics flowed from Gaffney into Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios, to be met by co-producers, James Skelly and Thom Southern. Rich with jangle-guitar lines and vocal harmonies, Gaffney’s opening statement of intent couldn’t be more convincing.
