Known for being the charismatic frontman of 4AD-signed Broken Records, Jamie Sutherland has broken out on his own to produce his debut solo album Bruise, set for release later this year on bndr music.
Recorded in a break between Broken Records albums and focusing his songwriting on the more personal and introspective end of the scale, Bruise is a collection of songs regarding the passing of time on the writer as well as friends, family and relationships. Produced and recorded by Neil Pennycook (Meursault) and performed with some of Edinburgh's leading musicians (Siobhan Wilson, Eagleowl, Meursault, Stanley Odd, Broken Records) and recorded at SongbyToad's Happiness Hotel recording studio, Bruise is a collection of folk and country songs aimed squarely at the heart strings in the vein of Bill Callahan, Nick Drake, Bright Eyes, Paul Buchanan and Calexico.
Jamie has toured with the likes of The National, Black Keys, Editors, Plan B and Frightened Rabbit. When he’s not playing music himself he runs the Nothing Ever Happens Here night in Summerhall, Edinburgh which is a key part of Edinburgh’s music scene.
