The Search For Tomorrow’s Stars: Apply To Play open for 2021
It’s only been open a couple of weeks but – true to form - our Apply To Play programme for Sound City 2021 has proven to be incredibly popular.
Apply To Play is a special part of the booking process for Sound City. Breaking down the barriers between artist, festival and audience, it means that anyone with the right amount of talent and drive has the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of a global audience of music fans and industry personnel alike.
There’s always a keen sense of anticipation at Sound City HQ when the first Apply To Play submissions come in. We all live for that moment when we come across somebody new, somebody exciting, somebody undeniable. That motivation is the foundation of our year-round commitment to support new music and talent development both in the city region of Liverpool and across the world.
Sound City festival continues to be a breeding ground for future greatness, having played
host to some of the biggest acts on the planet before anyone else. Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, The 1975, Stormzy, Christine & The Queens, Wolf Alice, Catfish & The Bottlemen… the list of now household names that played a Sound City stage at the start of their careers is something we’re really proud of.
Every year, when we launch the latest edition of Apply To Play, we are opening the door for young artists to follow in those illustrious footsteps.
And, with Sound City set to return in 2021, after live music has been silenced for so long, the opportunity is arguably greater than ever. Audiences are sure to descend on festivals with renewed passion and enthusiasm, eager to discover new music first hand once again.
We’ve already got a packed line-up of stellar names set to play next year, including Rejjie Snow, Working Men’s Club, The Murder Capital, The Snuts, Thomas Headon, The Lathums and Abbie Ozard, joined by a rich mix of Liverpool’s most exciting new artists such as Red Rum Club, Jamie Webster, The Mysterines, Louis Berry and many more.
With a wealth of exciting names still to be announced, Sound City is leading the way for new music’s return in 2021.
