Horizons @ Sound City 2023

The BBC Cymru Wales/Arts Council Wales scheme Horizons/Gorwelion returns to Sound City for the third time!

This festival is renowned for supporting incredible new musicians, and that’s what Horizons/Gorwellion are all about too, so they’re bringing some of the most exciting artists from Wales to their showcase at the Kazimier Stockroom.

Learn more about them below:

Trampolene:

Armed with tunes from their brand new album ‘Rules of Love & War’, beloved Swansea rock band Trampolene are back out on the road. Fresh off supporting The Libertines last year, the band are back with an incredible live show. Expect melodic singalongs and a fast paced set-list, you won’t be disappointed!

Hourglvss

Alternative Pop outfit Hourglvss create a sound that purposefully lives in the divide between fantasy and reality. Citing inspiration from artists such as Wendy and Lisa, Depeche mode, Confidence Man and Self Esteem. Hourglvss tell tales of love and loss with hypnotic vocals, intoxicating harmonies while displaying a forceful sense of groove and drama that transverses through Pop and Clubland.

Pigeon Wigs

Pigeon Wigs are a 5-Piece alt rock band newly sprung from Cardiff's fertile soil. Their riff-laden fuzzy tones and melodic harmonies come crashing together to form a wild beast like no other. Whether aiming their sights at social commentary, dysfunctional relationships or alien abductions they leave you ravenous for their next drop. Having already received glowing praise Bethan Elfyn on Radio Wales, and a multitude of press praise including A&R Factory, Americymru, and Buzz Magazine, Hold Up! and the bands debut EP rock by numbers is sure to solidify the band as true ones-to-watch as they continue their rampage around the South Wales scene and beyond.

Baby Brave

This five piece Wrexham ensemble are fantastic - expect funk, synth, nouveau ambient guitar and striking melodies to linger with you for days to come. Their third EP, “Sunny Days in Dark Rooms”, was released in late 2022 with Mai 68 Record and the new sound amazing live! The band have played support slots at festivals and venues all over the UK for the likes of Dave McCabe (Zutons), Bo Ningen, H Hawkline, Stealing Sheep, Slow Club and Vryll Society.

Come along from 8pm on Friday 28th of April to see some of the best talent Wales has to offer.
