SOUND CITY 2021 WANT YOU!! 

Over the past decade Sound City has been a hub of creativity and opportunity and we pride ourselves on being a gateway into the music industry and have had the privilege of working with many volunteers, who are the backbone of our festival.

Volunteers who have worked on previous Sound City events have gone on to work at companies including: Umbro, Manchester International Festival, Bluepeg, Ditto Music, Field Day, V Festival, Green Man, Snowbombing, Outlook (Croatia), Sunday Best Recordings, Notting Hill Music, Nintendo, Tileyard Music, Glastonbury, Festival Number 6, United Talent Group, Sentric, Coda Agency, The Olympics, Sound City, Atlantic Records, Warner Brothers Entertainment, Modern Sky UK and many more.

Volunteers are given a free ticket to enjoy the festival and  we offer a full reference and advice provided they’ve fulfilled their roles over the three days of the conference and festival.


Volunteers

We are looking for friendly people with a passion for music, who are reliable, confident and organised. If this is you check out some of the roles we have for Sound City listed below and how to apply:

Stage Manager Assistant/ Stage Hand

  • Assist the Stage Manager in the smooth running of the stage programme. 
  •  making sure performers go on stage on time 
  • change over of props/equipment
  • Checking Backline, musical equipment, micing up etc. Technical knowledge.
Production Assistant
  • Assisting the Production Manager 
  • Dealing with programming partners stage branding
  • Ryder management
  • Assist in the creation of the Production schedule
  • Ensure timely ordering and receipt of festival essentials eg towels for headliners, toilets etc
  • Liaison for delivery items
  • Event adhoc tasks Making sure every stage has what it needs, liaising with AL/Stage managers and Runners. 
Wider Arts Assistant
  • Looking after Wider Art performers, making sure their needs are met their performance runs smoothly
  • help with loading in and out
  • stewarding and giving the public information on the wider arts.
Runner Job Description
  • Run things between different areas of the venue
  • Make sure all members of staff and performers have everything they need
Artist Liaison/Green room Description
  • Bringing the artists from the green room to the stage on time
  • Make sure all performers are fed and watered
  • Assist performers with any issues they might have
Sponsorship Assistants
  • Assist in making sure each sponsors branding is in place
  • Assisting their showcases and performances making sure everything runs on time
Event Assistants Description
  • To assist with setting up the venue
  • Some lifting
  • During live event assist the Managers on ad hoc duties making sure the smooth running of the event
1-2-1 supervisor
  • Ensure tables are set up correctly. Including water for the speakers.
  • Bringing the speakers from the green room to the 1-2-1 meetings area.
  • Ensuring the delegates rotate to the next speaker every 10 minutes.
Photographers
  • A lover of emerging bands who wants to get involved in all areas of the festival including wider arts, street performances, art and all other offerings.
  • Great energy to sustain the long hours of the day
  • An attention to detail with an eye for a great shot
  • Must have own equipment making sure all in working order to send over images post festival.
  • Must send over to Marketing team as work may be used throughout future marketing campaigns and also across all social platforms
  • It is advantageous for the candidate to have a portfolio or examples of work
Journalists
  • A lover of emerging bands who wants to get involved in all areas of the festival including wider arts, street performances, art and all other offerings.
  • Great energy to sustain the long hours of the day
  • Outstanding writing ability
  • It is advantageous for the candidate to have a portfolio or examples of work
  • All articles must be sent to PR/Marketing team so we can index this into our archives
Videographers
  • A lover of emerging bands who wants to get involved in all areas of the festival including wider arts, street performances, art and all other offerings.
  • Great energy to sustain the long hours of the day
  • An outstanding understanding of what makes an engaging video which demonstrates the ethos of festival and also that of the lineup
  • Must own relevant equipment
  • Must send over to Marketing team as work may be used throughout future marketing campaigns and also across all social platforms
  • It is advantageous for the candidate to have a portfolio or examples of work
Social Media Assistants
  • Candidate must have good knowledge of Instagram/Twitter/Facebook.
  • Will be working throughout the day covering all different venues making sure there is live reporting of everything going on within the festival location from wider arts, street performances, art and all other offerings.
  • Must be able to engage festival goers with great content
  • Content must also be able to create ethos of the festival with the incentive to convert to sales


Available all day -  30th April - 2nd May 2021 (Potentially needed in the week prior to the event)
