COVID-19 FAQs

Will Sound City take place in 2021?

Yes! Sound City is scheduled to take place 1st-3rd October 2021.

What venues are hosting Sound City 2021?
Sound City will take place across venues in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool City Centre, including Grand Central Hall, Arts Club Theatre and Loft, LEAF, Jimmys, The Jacaranda, EBGBS, The Shipping Forecast and Kazimier Stockroom. 

The Sound City+ Conference with taking place at the British Music Experience (BME) and the Museum of Liverpool, both on the city's iconic waterfront.

Will I need to be vaccinated in order to gain entry to Sound City 2021?
You will need to demonstrate your COVID-19 status by providing either a negative Rapid Lateral Flow Test, proof of full vaccination (both doses) or proof of natural immunity based on a positive PCR Test.

You can also present a negative test via text message. Use the Government Website (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result) to register your result. You should use your accommodation/place of residence as the postcode for registering your result.

Proof of full vaccination must be through the NHS COVID Pass. 

How can I get a PCR test to obtain the NHS COVID Pass?
You can order a PCR test kit to be sent to your home or book an appointment at a walk-in or drive-through test site. Both can be done via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.

How can I get a lateral flow test to obtain the NHS COVID Pass?
Lateral Flow test kits can be ordered online through the government website (https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests) or purchased from a pharmacy. You can also find your local LFT testing centre online (https://www.gov.uk/find-covid-19-lateral-flow-test-site).

Why are you implementing the NHS COVID Pass when it’s not been mandated by the government?
The Government has strongly encouraged all large venues to put this measure in place. We are taking all sensible precautions to help ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and artists, and to mitigate the risks of COVID-19. We see this as a matter of our social responsibility to help protect society and restart live events safely and securely, and to give fans the confidence to be able to attend and enjoy events again.

I am travelling from Europe, will you accept the EU Digital COVID certification?
Yes, EU Digital COVID Certificates will be accepted. You can also present a negative test via text message. Use the Government Website (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result) to register your result. You should use your accommodation/place of residence as the postcode for registering your result.

I am travelling from outside of Europe (International Ticket Holders)
You will need to take an LFT test 36 hrs before arriving. You will upload your test result via the UK Government website, who will follow-up with a confirmation text message which you must display on entry. Use the Government Website (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result) to register your result. You should use your accommodation/place of residence as the postcode for registering your result.

Alternatively, you can find your local testing centre, and show the text message confirming your test result.

I am under 18, do I need to get the NHS COVID Pass?
We recommended that you take a LFT or PCR test ahead of arrival, and upload it on the Government Website, to demonstrate your negative status. You can then present a negative test via text message. Use the Government Website (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result) to register your result.

If you would rather not do this, you must show approved Photographic Identification which shows that you are under 18 years of age.

I am from UK territories but do not have access to the NHS Pass
You will need to take an LFT test 36 hrs before arriving. You will upload your test result via the UK Government website, who will follow-up with a confirmation text message which you must display on entry. Use the Government Website (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result) to register your result. You should use your accommodation/place of residence as the postcode for registering your result.

Alternatively, you can find your local testing centre, and show the text message confirming your test result.
Those travelling from Scotland who have been vaccinated at least two weeks prior to the event can use their NHS Vaccination document for entry.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q. Where is Sound City 2021?
A. Sound City 2021 will be taking place across multiple venues in Liverpool

Q. When is Sound City 2021?
A. It will take place across 1st - 3rd October 2021.

Q. Do I have to be over 18 to attend Sound City?
A. Sound City is a 14+ event, all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Under 18s require proof of ID and will be issued a separate wristband. Some late night events and venues are 18+ only.

Q. What does my Sound City festival ticket get me?
A. A festival ticket grants you access to all programme artists, subject to each venue’s capacity.

Q: I live/work locally and want to engage with the festival team, who do I contact?
A: We have a dedicated Community Impact Team whose role it is to engage with local businesses and residents. You can either call us directly on 0151 558 0422, or drop us an email - communityimpact@soundcity.uk.com.


TICKETS

Q. Are tickets for Sound City 2021 on sale yet?
A. Yes - Weekend, Day and Sound City+ tickets can be purchased right here. Please note that VIP tickets are sold out.


Q. What does a festival ticket get you?
A. A Sound City festival ticket grants you access to see all artists on the day(s) on which your ticket is valid, subject to each venue’s capacity.

Q. When will my ticket be sent to me?
A. Tickets will be dispatched 3-4 weeks prior to the festival. If you haven’t received your ticket 2 weeks prior to the festival please contact the ticket agent that you booked through. If you purchased via the Sound City website the ticket agent is See Tickets.


Q. I can no longer attend Sound City. Can I get a refund?
A. All ticket purchases are non-refundable.

ARTIST REGISTRATION

Q. I am an artist and would like to play Sound City 2021. How do I put myself forward?
A. Applications are now closed. Please keep an eye out on our socials for the re-opening of the applications. 


ACCOMMODATION

Q. I want to attend Sound City but don’t live in Liverpool! Where can I stay?
A. Please see here.


Q. Why don’t I have the option to get a camping ticket when I try and buy a weekend ticket?
A. Sound City is a non-camping, metropolitan festival set across venues in the city centre of Liverpool.


VOLUNTEERING

Q. I’d like to volunteer for Sound City 2021. How can I make this dream a reality?
A. Applications are open for volunteers here.


SEXUAL SAFETY POLICY

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind of sexual assault or harassment at our festival.
We define sexual assault as "Any unwanted sexual act or activity". There are many different kinds of sexual violence including but not restricted to rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Such actions and behaviour will not be tolerated at our event and suspects of such offences will be pursued and may be ejected from the festival. We will work with the police to support investigations and charging decisions.


If something happens to you, please report it to the nearest steward or security guard or email hello@soundcity.uk.com. If you don’t feel comfortable reporting onsite that is completely fine, you can use that phone number and email address to report when you get home.

We take all reports incredibly seriously and will take a victim led approach to all forms of sexual assault.
