Low Island

Where – HANGAR 34 | Sunday

Hailing out of Oxford, quartet LOW ISLAND have inspired glowing comparisons with the likes of Caribou and Grizzly Bear. In the space of just four tracks, they have earned radio airplays courtesy of Huw Stephens, Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson, Tom Ravenscroft and Phil Taggart. Their debut EP Just About Somewhere, released early this year, has received over 700,000 plays on Spotify.

The band was formed as the accidental by-product of a theatre score written by Jamie vocals/guitars/keys/electronics) and Carlos (vocals/guitar/keys). The pair had previously played with bassist Jacob as teenager in an alt-rock band and also had some success in dance music, with a residency at The Warehouse in Leeds. Percussionist Felix - who has toured with Brooklyn jazz ensemble Snarky Puppy - completes the line-up.Following a debut sold out live show at The Sebright Arms, the band is getting prepped to release their follow up EP and extensive festival season sets, as well as UK headline tour.
